Using porcelain, forms are thrown, then cut up, altered and reassembled using black slurry. The surface is sponged off. The sculpture is dried then sanded, accentuating the scored black lines lending the sculpture its “stitched” effect. Glazed or unglazed, fired to cone 6 oxidation. |

I work with red earthenware clay, [Darcy's red dart]. Many of my pieces are constructed from thrown and hand built elements and are finished with under glazes and multiple glazes including majolica and mono printing. I love to teach ceramics, as I am inspired so much from students. I also create functional work for every day use. I consider myself a folk artist. |
